The History of Walpole Children's Theatre

A Non-Profit Organization
For children, by children since 1969

An Idea is Born

Walpole Children’s Theatre was founded in 1969 at the Footlighters Playhouse in Walpole, MA by an Emerson College student.
The first performance was two one-act plays that were performed at Footlighters Playhouse and at Bird Park.

An Idea is Born

In 1992, WCT incorporated in Massachusetts as a non-profit organization. The mission of the group was to create quality theatrical productions for children and by children.

An Idea is Born

In 1994, in addition to the annual summer production, a winter show was added and continues to receive as much patronage as the summer production. Smaller one-act plays have been added over the years and performed in Walpole or surrounding towns.

WCT Today

The quality of the performances WCT produces exceeds ordinary children’s theatrical productions and continually demonstrates cultural excellence. Despite a limited budget, the artistic superiority of the productions are truly enriching to the cultural life of the community. Audiences always leave a production knowing that hard work and talent went into each performance.

50 Years And Counting!
